यह मंत्र ऋग्वेद के १०वें मण्डल के १२०वें सूक्त से उद्धृत है। इसके ऋषि बृहद्दिव आथर्वण हैं और इसके देवता इंद्र हैं।

मुख्य भावार्थ:
वह परम तत्त्व ही इस समस्त संसार में सबसे महान और ज्येष्ठ है। उसी से उस प्रचंड और तेजस्वी शक्ति (इंद्र) का प्राकट्य हुआ है। वह शक्ति इतनी सामर्थ्यवान है कि उत्पन्न होते ही वह अंधकार रूपी शत्रुओं का नाश कर देती है। सभी रक्षक और सहायक शक्तियाँ आनंद के साथ उस दिव्य सत्ता का अनुसरण करती हैं।
दार्शनिक दृष्टिकोण: यहाँ 'इंद्र' केवल एक देवता नहीं, बल्कि 'आत्म-शक्ति' का प्रतीक है। जब मनुष्य के भीतर ज्ञान का उदय होता है, तो वह अज्ञान रूपी शत्रुओं को तुरंत समाप्त कर देता है।
